Service vessel

Scale: Unknown. A model of a typical 19th century Japanese boat made entirely in wood. The mode is unpainted apart from below the waterline which is stained black and the top part of the stem post which is also black, and there is red detailing on the stem post and deck beams. The hull shape is a shallow draft with flat bottom, wide in the beam with a sharp bow. The bulwarks have four transverse beams attached to them that extend beyond the width of the boat. The enclosed cabin is positioned forward and has a working sliding hatch cover on the roof, working wooden blinds on the side windows and a working sliding door at the rear of the cabin. There is an open transom stern and provision for a rudder that is missing. The model is equipped with a pair sweeps and what appears to be a boat hook.
