Lloyd's Patriotic Fund sword belt awarded to Capt William James Hughes. Leather belt covered with blue velvet embroidered with foliage in silver wire and sequins. Two lion's head gilt metal buckles. Two buckles to adjust length decorated with palm leaves and anchors. Fastened by a round disc which fits through a circular clasp with a slit in the centre. Disc depicts Hercules with a Union Flag shield slaying a hydra. Inscription "PATRIOTIC FUND 1803". One gilt metal spring sword clip.
