Boat's Liquid Compass

Boat's liquid compass with a stand which is easily detached from the compass.

Bowl: Copper with brass verge ring holding glass. Brass with stud at centre. Two external expansion chambers of brass and glass (one missing) connected to bowl by brass tubes. White inside with black lubber line. Weighted at base.
Card: Metal envelope with needle enclosed. Hole in centre to accommodate double gimbals and pivot spike. White with black markings in quarter points. Decorated North and East points.
Needle: Unsighted.
Pivot: Pivot stand of brass with double gimballed pivot cup with jewel.
Mounted on ACO stand.
