Cap badge, British and Commonwealth Shipping Company
Black wool cap badge of British and Commonwealth Shipping Company over a core. A sea-lion is embroidered in gold and silver purl with features embellished with polychrome silk thread work on a central reserve of padded black wool edged by applied gold coil. The reserve is surrounded by laurel leaves of gold purl with stems of gold coil. All is surmounted by a naval crown of gold purl, bullion and spangles. The badge is backed with a black wool blend fabric and covered with the remains of a layer of black paper.
