Twenty-six buttons.
Eighteen buttons have a smooth edge. On a smooth background are two branches with leaves crossed at the bottom and going up either side, almost meeting at the top. Within a raised circular border with a textured background is ROYAL MARINES. In the centre is a post-1901 crown above a fouled anchor where the rope comes from under the right-hand side of the stock, then goes under the shank to the left and then over the shank to the right and goes under the right fluke.

Three buttons have a smooth edge. Domed. Within a wreath on a smooth background is a raised circular border with a smooth background with ROYAL MARINES LIGHT INFANTRY on it. In the centre is a post-1901 crown with a fouled anchor. The rope appears from under the right-hand stock, then under the shank to the left, over the shank to the right and then under the right arm.

Three buttons have a smooth edge. Smooth edge. Within a wreath on a lined background is a raised circular belt with buckle with ROYAL MARINE ARTILLERY on it. In the centre is a post-1901 crown with a fouled anchor with the rope tied to the ring at the top, then appears from under the right-hand stock, goes over the shank to the left, under the shank to the right and then under the right arm. At both ends of the stock is a grenade.
