Type 6/18 Mark III

Liquid compass
Card: A magnet system for a Hughes Mark IIIa compass. Comprises spider of eight elements, N & S elements red, N point marked with a red diamond, E & W points black. The end of each element is turned down at right angles.
Needle: Two needle magnets are mounted below the spider.
Pivot: Inverted type with pivot secured at base of float chamber. Pivot cap carried at top of brass stem which in this case is set in cork.
