Cap. Overseas Containers Limited

Master's black wool peaked cap of Overseas Containers Limited with white plastic cover. Black wool cap badge bearing a blue rectangular flag of applied ribbed silk fabric embroidered with ‘OCL’ in applied coiled gold metal. Coiled metal also outlines the flag. The flag is surrounded by laurel leaves of gold purl with stems of applied coiled gold metal. All is surmounted by a naval crown of gold purl, bullion and spangles.
The cap’s visor is made of card faced with black wool (green leather on the under side) with gold embroidered oak leaves to indicate rank and black leather binding on the edge of the visor. The black plastic strap across the visor is fixed with a button to either side of the cap.
On the interior of the cap there is a brown leather hat band and blue and red silk lining. The maker’s details stamped are stamped in gold ‘MONNERY’S LTD’ and are covered with plastic.
Cap is from the uniform of Captain Michael Heron.
