Sword
French sword, the hilt of the sword consists of a pierced gilt half-basket guard, which is embossed with a foul anchor, cable and ivy leaf motif. The quillon is made in the form of a dolphin's head. The sword has a fluted pommel and the back-piece is embossed with a design of scallop shells. The brown grip has a ring to accomodate a sword knot on the front edge just inside the guard. The slightly curved, flat-backed steel blade has one wide and one narrow groove running almost to the double-edged spear point. The reverse of the blade is engraved with the words 'Coulaux & C. Klingenthal'. The blade is badly rusted.
