Dry compass

Card: Mica covered with paper, white with black markings graduated to quarter points and to 360 degrees

Needle: Flat bar type with rounded ends 4.5" (11.4 cm) in length. The centre of needle expands to provide aperture for pivot cap. Secured to card by two rivets.

Pivot: Cone shaped brass cap with jewel at top, screwed through aperture at centre of needle.
