National Maritime Museum flag

The National Maritime Museum flag. Three yellow anchors on a red background, (one large flanked by two smaller). The flag is made of wool and synthetic bunting with the anchors applied in yellow cotton fabric. A rope and two Inglefield clips are attached to hoist the flag.

This design was in use by the Museum from 1957 until May 1974. After that date it became the flag of the Admiralty Board. It was replaced by a new flag incorporating the device from the museum's coat of arms, 'gules, two anchors with two ships above, or'. This particular flag was purchased for the museum's flagpole.
