Sextant

The sextant has a black-lacquered brass three-circle pattern frame and a black plastic handle. The plastic micrometer drum and clamp release knobs are located at the bottom of the index arm. The instrument has four green shades and three green horizon shades. Index-glass adjustment is made by a screw and on the horizon glass by capstan screws.

Attached to the sextant is a threaded telescope bracket with perpendicular adjustment made by a rising-piece and a milled knob. The telescope is 73 mm in length with an inverted image and a wide objective lens (star finder). The sight-tube is 83 mm long with a green shaded eyepiece and an adjusting pin. There is an electric light at the end of the index arm with the batteries stored in the handle. Several unidentified parts are missing.

The instrument has a brass scale measuring from -5° to 130° by 1°, and measures to 122°. Micrometer to 0.2 degrees = 12 arcminutes.

The sextant is contained in a square fitted wooden box lined with green textile, and containing in the lid a Husun certificate of examination, dated 1943.
