Pennant

Wool bunting, hand-sewn pennant combining the Union Flag and USA stars. 'ATLANTIC TELEGRAPH' in red on the white fly. An identical flag was flown by the US Frigate 'Niagara' on a telegraph cable laying voyage from Ireland to Newfoundland 1857-1858 (this example in the Smithsonian Institution).
