House flag, John Willis & Son
The house flag of John Willis & Son, London. The flag is made of fine wool bunting, machine sewn with a linen hoist. A rope and metal clip is attached. the flag was used by the tea clipper 'Cutty Sark' 1869.
A blue swallow-tailed flag with a white diamond in the centre bearing a red saltire. Inscribed on the hoist: 'JOHN WILLIS & SONS'. The ponts of the swallowtailes have been repaired with the addition of new fabric.
