The Royal Museums Greenwich Learning team coordinates regular projects and partnerships to engage and celebrate learners who are less likely to access our core learning programme.

We also run an annual partner school programme, connecting in depth with a partner school over the course of an academic year.

If you are a school interested in partnering with us, sign up to our newsletter to be the first to find out when new opportunities are available.

The partner school programme

Our annual partner school programme engages with schools in our community over an academic year and celebrates those who do not typically access our core learning programme.

For the year 2025-26, we worked with Newhaven School. Newhaven provides alternative provision for secondary school students in Greenwich who have either been excluded from mainstream education or have social, emotional and mental health needs.

The partner school programme is generously supported by the Dr Lee MacCormick Edwards Charitable Foundation.

Hospital school outreach

Through activities inspired by objects in our collection, we engage children attending hospital schools and their siblings in art interventions.

Pictured is a curated display of student work at the Royal Marsden Hospital, created using X-rays of globes in our collection as inspiration for collage.

Audiomoves in Space

Royal Observatory Greenwich collaborated with Peut-étre Theatre to create space-themed podcast episodes, designed to encourage children to move, dance and use their imagination with a screen-free activity.

Each episode includes an interview with an Observatory astronomer and a guided movement activity inspired by the interview.

Sea Shanty Festival

Students from The John Roan School gave an incredible performance at the 2025 Sea Shanty Festival at Cutty Sark. The students reinterpreted traditional sea shanties with their own lyrics.
