Celebrate National Poetry Day with a series of short talks about famous maritime poetry.
The talks will explore how poets have used words and rhyme to express the maritime world, from John Masefield’s Sea Fever to Robert Burns’ Tam O’ Shanter, from which Cutty Sark got its name and figurehead.

What is UK National Poetry Day?
National Poetry Day is organised by the Forward Arts Foundation and is the biggest mass celebration of poetry in the UK.
The Forward Arts Foundation say: "It’s a chance for all of us to share in the pleasure of poetry. You’ll see it everywhere, from schools and libraries to cultural venues and across the national media. With 1.5 million people participating on the day, there are loads of ways to get involved!"
2026's theme is 'Wonder'.
