Royal Museums Greenwich holds a vast cartographic collection dating back to the 13th century. Frustratingly, we are unable to communicate with the makers of these historical works about their methods of production. Today, traditional map and globe making is a dying art.
Join Tim May, Curator of Maps and Mobilities, for an exploration of the museum's unique cartographic collection. This event will also provide a rare opportunity to learn about the heritage techniques employed by two contemporary makers, Leonardo Frigo and Kevin Sheehan. They will share their personal stories and insights into the crafting of handmade maps and globes, followed by a Q&A.
