The new Ocean Map at the heart of the National Maritime Museum turns your view of the world inside out. Its watery orientation is designed to change visitors' perspectives of the blue planet we call home.

Join Tim May, Curator of Maps and Mobilities, to learn about how it was developed and the deeper history of ocean-centric cartography. With Tim you will also have an opportunity to navigate and explore the map’s unique features.

A type of world map known as a Spilhaus Projection, presenting the ocean as one single body of water. This version was created for display at the National Maritime Museum
