Come along and explore the history of astronomy with the Royal Observatory Greenwich's series of free interactive poetry workshops!

We've joined UK Men's Sheds Association (UKMSA) to create an Astronomy Shed here in Greenwich. It's a space to connect and create regardless of interest and ability.

About Time to Make

This year, join poet, researcher and theatre-maker S. L. Grange and our Astronomy team for a brand-new creative poetry series.

At the Time to Make workshops, you can create poetry inspired by astronomy and connect with other local adults along the way.

Each session will have prompts and poems based on our themes at the Royal Observatory Greenwich including space, time and navigation. We're looking at the big and small, from global histories and perceptions of time to the watch you wear on your wrist every day, the wonders of deep space to the crescent moon you saw from your kitchen window.

Time to Make sessions include the chance to:

  • explore our handling collection
  • enjoy a special tour of our astronomy exhibition
  • experiment with different forms of poetry.

This will all take place alongside cups of tea and coffee and conversation. No previous interest or experience with astronomy or poetry is required!
