Additional items relating to the service of Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander William Astle Ryan in China:

(1) Envelope containing a piece of shrapnel removed from the lining of Ryan's monkey jacket following the Japanese attack on HMS LADYBIRD (1916) on 12 December 1937.
(2) Page of notes on some of the naval personnel who served with Ryan in the Yangtze Flotilla in 1936 and 1937.
(3) Printed journal ‘The Naval Review’ from May 1953 (Volume XLI, No.2), including an article on the LADYBIRD in the period 1930-1932, by Commander Cecil C.M. Usher.
