Maritime mail / June Tower.
An anthology of letters between the author, a schoolgirl in austerity Britain, and a junior Naval officer, John Treleaven to whom she was engaged, during the years 1946-1950. A year after their marriage in 1950 he lost his life with 74 other men when the submarine HM Affray sank while on a training exercise off Portsmouth. The collection of letters, photographs and other memorabilia is held by the Caird Library because of their significance as a social history of the Royal Navy and Britain in the austere post-war years.
