A history of the family-owned British coastal shipping company Rix Shipping founded by Robert Rix in 1873 on Teeside and moving to Hull in 1883. Still family owned and headquartered in Hull, the book charts the development of the company's business operations. Illustrated with photographs of the family and ships, the book includes a family tree of the descendants of Robert Rix, an index of ships and fleet list in chronological order of ships owned by the various Rix companies, and managed by Rix on behalf of the Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of War Transport. A list of vessels completed by the Rix-owned subsidiary Hepworth Shipyard Ltd since 1978 is also included.
