An admiral's yarn

The memoirs of Admiral Harris Laning, who served in the US Navy from 1891 to 1937, published as part of the US Naval War College Historical Monograph Series. Laning was President of the Naval War College from 1930 to 1933. The memoirs are important not only as the reminiscences of a distinguished naval officer but also as a record of the rise of the US Navy from a small fighting force into what some argue was the greatest in the world.
