The Nelson Inn, at the corner of Windmill Street and New Road, is behind the Nelson Tap with Livery Stables between them. Coal Consumers' Company Wharf at Gravesend with iron stumpy rigged sailing barge 'Connaught' (1879) alongside. Looking west along waterfront towards Clifton Marine Parade. The barge is seen from fine off her port bow and from well above deck level. It is low tide and she has been loading coal using a wooden chute from the quayside. The top of her sprit is out of the picture. Three swim headed stumpy barges are dried out in the background, two of them being on blocks. F.C. Gould & Son

G4273; A view of a rocky escarpment or outcrop with pockets of snow at an unidentified location. The photograph may possibly show coal seams - Inglefield spent several days looking for sources of coal and taking samples and sent a report to the Admiralty about brief experiments conducted onboard. 'The Times' reported on 5 October 1854 that Captain Inglefield had discovered a coal mine on the Waygat side of the Island of Disco, from which 80 tons of coal were taken on board, free of expense.

G4258; Portrait photograph believed to be Donald Manson, Ice Master of converted screw Sloop Phoenix (1832). He is seated in his overcoat, scarf & highly-polished hat. According to Description Book for Phoenix Donald Manson was 5ft 5inches tall, 61 years old with grey hair, fresh complexion & grey eyes. Manson joined the ship, by Admiralty Appointment dated 28 February 1854, on 9 March 1854 at Woolwich.

G4270; An elderly Inuit woman with two Inuit men, standing, in outdoor clothing made from seal skin. The jacket of the man on the left has toggles made from ivory. The elderly woman is also featured in image G4269. There is some masking paper on the emulsion side of the negative. It is not known where this group was photographed. The Phoenix visited four settlements along the west coast of Greenland: Holsteinborg, Godhavn, Proven, and Upernarvick between 8 June and 21 July 1854.

G4262; Seven Inuit girls and women in West Greenland Inuit dress of short breeches made of seal skin and decorated with 'fancy' work. The negative has been masked by paper on emulsion side, however most of the masking paper has been removed. It is not known where this group was photographed. The Phoenix visited four settlements along the west coast of Greenland: Holsteinborg, Godhavn, Proven, and Upernarvick between 8 June and 21 July 1854.

G4268; An Inuit man dressed in European clothes with three Inuit women in traditional clothing. The upper garment of the woman on the right may be knitted wool (like the ones worn by the Danish official and his sons in G4263) and may represent a fusion between Inuit and Nordic clothing. The Inglefield Album held by the Royal Archives records that the people in the photograph are (l-r) Mother, Daughter, Fiance, and Sister-in-Law.

G4263; A group photograph believed to be of Hans Elberg, Assistant [Lieutenant Governor] at Holsteinborg 1850-54, and later Governor 1854-73, with his wife Martha and three children. Their clothes represent a fusion between Inuit and Nordic clothing. Phoenix visited Holsteinborg between 8 and 17 June 1854.

G4269; A portrait photograph of an elderly Inuit woman seated on a chair looking at the camera. The backdrop may be a sail and there is evidence of paper masking on the emulsion. She seems to be wearing fine traditional clothing. This woman also features in image G4270. It is not known where the sitter was photographed. G4264; An Inuit women, possibly a nurse, carrying a baby in a sling on her back, and a second woman standing beside her with hands raised to the nurse's shoulder. There is some masking paper on the emulsion side of the negative, and evidence of the background having been masked in the past. It is not known where this group was photographed. The Phoenix visited four settlements along the west coast of Greenland: Holsteinborg, Godhavn, Proven, and Upernarvick between 8 June and 21 July 1854.

G4267; A photograph of an Inuit man supporting a kayak while holding a double-ended paddle. Seen with him is the seal hunting gear. This includes a harpoon, with a norsaq attached, stored along the side of the kayak. The rope for the harpoon can be seen attached to the inflated seal-skin 'bladder', and the stand in front of the coaming was used to store the rope. The man is wearing a sealskin tuilik and appears to be smoking a clay pipe.

G4260; Portrait photograph believed to be Jorgen Nielsen Moller, Governor of Holsteinborg, 1841-54, seated smoking hookah. Phoenix's log records the Governor & Inspector of North Greenland coming aboard Phoenix at 4.30am on Monday 2 July 1854 to dine with the Captain. The Phoenix, with her companion vessels Talbot and North Star, did not call at Holsteinborg on the return journey in September 1854 after evacuating Belcher's expedition.

They departed at 4.30pm on 5 July, with Diligence in ballast returning to England

On the left is the Duck Pond School. In the middle background is a shop on the corner of Milton Road and Elliott Street, further along the terrace is a notice board advertising the Prince of Wales public house which is hidden by the trees between the church and Elliott Street. The storeship HMS Diligence (1814), HMS Phoenix (1832), a converted screw Sloop & storeship HMS Talbot (1824), a converted Sixth Rate, arrived at Holsteinborg on 8 June at 1.45pm. They departed for Godhavn [also referred to as Lievely] at 9am on 17 June 1854 going northward to supply 'Franklin' search ships under Captain Sir Edward Belcher in Canadian archipelago.

G4257; Portrait photograph believed to be Christian Soren Marcus Olrik (1815-1870) Inspector of North Greenland 1846-66, seated in his uniform. He was based in Godhavn [referred to as Lievely in Phoenx's log] and visited the Phoenix (1832) on 3 July 1854 accompanying the Governor for dinner with the Captain. He took passage on Phoenix between 5 and 12 July 1854 to Swarte Hook, near Kangatak Islands. At 12.30pm the Phoenix fired a three-gun salute for the Inspector as he left the ship.
