Launch of the Royal George, 120 guns, from Chatham Dockyard
Medium includes graphite. The full inscription by Chambers reads ' Launch of the Royal George, 120 guns, from Chatham Dockyard, / in presence of the Lord High Admiral & the Duchess of Clarence / Sketched on the spot by G Chambers'. In fact, by 1827 Prince William Henry, Duke of Clarence (subsequently William IV from 1830), was no longer Lord High Admiral, a post he only held from 1820 to 1823.
