Small studies of boats pulling in different directions
The NMM’s collection of van de Velde drawings includes a number such as this, which were probably intended to instruct member of van de Velde’s studio in the years around 1700. In this drawing the four boats are divided by diagonal lines to indicate perspective. The drawing is unsigned.
