United States Packet Ship New World 1404 tons register. Built at Boston, Mass. 1846 by Donald McKay
This black-and-white print of a painting by Samuel Walters depicts the packet ship New World at sea. All of her sails are set, and she flies the flags of the Blue Swallowtail Line from the fore- and main-masts and the American flag from the mizzen-mast. Other sailing ships can be seen on either side of her in the background, and land can be seen in the far left background.
