Ring dial

Ring dial for latitude 44° North. The ring is pierced by a central channel and set either side of the channel on the outer face is a date scale, divided by month. On the inner face is an hour scale. The pinhole gnomon is missing and there is a suspension loop but no ring. The equinoxes are marked at approximately 20 March and 20 September.

This is a very simple dial, with no features of particular interest. Both letters and numbers on the ring are inscribed very crudely.

For more information regarding this dial please refer to the OUP & NMM catalogue, 'Sundials at Greenwich'.
