L' Hopital de Greenwich du Cote de la Riviere
Technique includes etching. A view of Greenwich Hospital from the river: it is taken from a French book since there is a reference to 'Page 300' top right above the framing line. It is probably derived from Thomas Lawranson's large panoramic print on two sheets of 1734, dedicated to Queen Caroline (wife of George II). Despite its imprint date the Lawranson print is the first to include Rysbrack's statue of George II in the Grand Square, which was in fact only installed in 1735, though presumably known to be in prospect. There are other editions which have 'Tome II' and another page reference top right.
