Royal Naval Asylum from Greenwich Park.
Vignette. An aquatint from the 'Naval Chronicle', August 1811, subsequently hand-coloured. It shows the scaffolding in place for the northward extension of Alexander's east wing, which with the west wing, was originally completed as a balanced 'hammerhead' pair on the end of the colonnades in about 1809 but almost immediately enlarged to the north as they remain at present. A Laurie and Whittle print of 1814 (PAF7626) also in the collection shows them as complete.
