Lord Anson. George Lord Anson
An oval bust-length portrait of George Anson (1697–1762) in flag-officer’s full-dress uniform, 1748–67, and a wig. Lettered in the border of the portrait: ‘Lord Anson. / W. Walker sculpt.’ Also lettered beneath the image ‘George Lord Anson.’ The portrait is derived from Joshua Reynolds’s oil painting of 1753–5, a version of which is now at Shugborough.
