Vice Admiral Lord Hood

Hand-coloured. An oval bust-length portrait of Samuel Hood (1724–1816) in flag officer’s full-dress uniform, 1787–1795, and a hat. Lettered beneath the image with the title and production details: ‘Vice Admiral Lord Hood / Godefroy delint. / J. Pass sculpt.’ This portrait was engraved by John Pass after a drawing by John Godefroy, which was probably based on Franz Gabriel Fiessinger’s stipple of 1793 after an original painting by James Northcote (see PAD4676). Godefroy has added a hat to the figure’s head. (Updated May 2019.)
Stored in mount with PAD3254.
