Lord Viscount Howe
A circular bust-length portrait of Richard Howe, Earl Howe (1726–1799) in flag officer’s undress uniform, 1749–1767. The portrait is surrounded by an elaborate frame, hung at the top with a mask and ribbons. This print was published by John Fielding, John Sewell and J. Debrett on 1 November 1782 as an illustration in ‘The European Magazine, and London Review’, volume 2 (October 1782), alongside ‘Memoirs of the Life and Military Services of Admiral Lord Howe’, pp. 243–5. This impression has been cut down removing the title and publication line. (Updated June 2019.)
