A representation of Admiral Nelson’s victory over the French fleet at the mouth of the Nile on 1 August 1798. The ‘Orient’ is probably the burning ship in the centre of the image before she blew up, shown port broadside. The foreground is chaotic with men overboard and crowded on boats. The battle looms in the distance with the British fleet on the right side of the picture. Aquatint.
