A port near broadside view of the Cunard Line cruise ship Lancastria (1922) anchored in Sognefjorden off Balholm, Norway.
A port near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the Cunard Line cruise ship Lancastria (1922) at anchor in Sognefjorden at Balholm, Norway. Her starboard anchor is deployed and an accommodation ladder is rigged at the shell doors amidships. Several of the ship's lifeboats are in the water and under oars suggesting that a lifeboat drill or a ship's regatta is underway. The ship is in the standard Cunard livery of black hull and white upperworks but the white has been extended down by one deck. There are patches of snow on the mountains in the backlground. The negative has some scratches near the bow of the ship.
