The replacement grave marker for Thomas Morgan (d.1854) on the foreshore of Beechey Island, Barrow Strait.
A close-up of the replacement wooden grave marker for Thomas Morgan, who died on 22 May 1854 and was buried on Beechey Island. Morgan was an Able Seaman on HMS Investigator, one of the exploration ships of the 1852-54 Franklin Search Expedition under the command of Sir Edward Belcher.
The maker has a brass plaque screwed to it that states: 'Thomas Morgan, A.B. / H.M.S. Investigator / Died aboard the / H.M.S. North Star / Beechey Island/ 22nd May, 1854 / This marker is a replica. / The original is housed at the / Prince of Wales / Northern Heritage Centre, / Yellowknife, N.W.T. / 1993'
