Seascape from the 'Umberleigh'

A sketch of an empty horizon viewed from the deck of the 'Umberleigh'. From a low viewpoint, it shows a trough in a wave with the crest of the waves on either side picked out in white. A horizontal band of darker sea is visible mid-distance. The sky is a paler blue with a large mass of cloud tinged with lemon, repeated in the highlights in the wave in the foreground. Everett sailed in the steamer 'Umberleigh', from Barry, Wales, to Vancouver, Canada, in December 1933 and returned in March 1934. The painting is inscribed 'Um' verso.
