'Launch of Lusitania'

Inscribed by the artist, as title, lower right. A view looking up from fine off the starboard bow at the 'Lusitania' on her launching cradle at John Brown's yard, Clydebank, with flags flying for that event on 7 June 1906. figures are shown on the bow and in a large crowd gathered in the foreground, dwarfed by the ship towering above. Wyllie was presumably present, though whether drawings he made there were the basis for published news illustrations remains to be determined. [PvdM 10/13]
