Unknown First or Second Rate (no date)
Scale: 1:48. A plan showing the figurehead sketch for an unknown First or Second Rate (circa early 1700s). This type of intricate figurehead was usually the preserve of the high-status warships like First and Second Rates.
The figurehead illustration is of the starboard side and is a central coat of arms supported by cherubs. Beside this is a monarch, sitting and holding an orb in his left hand. His right hand is empty. Behind the monarch is a full-length winged cherub/angel, possibly blowing a trumpet. Below this level are two figures, the left seeming to be holding the monarch platform on his right shoulder, while the other man is holding the platform up using his right hand. The right hand man is wearing armour. At the bottom on the head of the trail-board are rough sketches of figures and creatures.
The plan includes financial calculations. The very bottom of the sheet has been torn off.
