Growler (1841) and Virago (1842)

Scale 1:48. Plan shows the sheer lines, longitudinal half breadth and body plan for the Driver calls paddle sloops Growler (1841) and Virago (1842). The drawing bears the signature of William Symonds [Surveyor of the Navy 1832-1848]. The title of the plan is " A draught prepared for building steam vessels of 280 horse power at Chatham with references to their Lordship's Order of the 14th May 1840 to be named Growler and Virago". The plan is fragile, resides in two pieces and in need of conservation.
