Looking aft from the bulk carrier Wilkawa (1964) after passing through the Gatun Gate Lock on the Panama Canal, Panama. The photographer is standing on the port side of the poop looking aft. The lock gate and control building are just aft of the stern. The far lock gate is in the middle ground. An unidentified ship is in the background motoring towards the left hand lock gate. A second unidentified ship is leaving the right hand lock in the middle ground Hills and jungle are on both sides of the canal bank in the background. This is Slide 65 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the motor bulk carrier Wilkawa (1964) owned by Sir William Reardon Smith & Sons Ltd of Cardiff, from 17 May 1970 to 26 November 1970. This series consists of 83 slides.
