On 19th December 1981, Penlee RNLI station lost all 8 crew members of the 'Solomon Browne', along with 8 people aboard the vessel they were attempting to rescue, the 'Union Star'. Roy (left) has volunteered for the RNLI for 40 years, serving on the Solomon Browne after the disaster with a new crew. Janet (right) lost her husband that night, and has been fundraising at the station for 50 years.
