Barges, Teignmouth, etc.
ILA, a Stroudwater canal barge, is seen aground on mud against a wharf, from the ground aft of its starboard stern quarter. Its name is shown in capital letters along with the owner's, E.T. Ward & Son Ltd. The length of the double-ended, carvel-built barge appears to be some 60ft. Beyond it the bow end of another, larger, barge is visible against a line of trees on the opposite shore. The ILA appears to be derelict: beyond its nameplate, timbers project above the sheer plank, due apparently to the removal of the bulwark. The barge's rudder stock is shown to be particularly heavily built.
