The attack and navigation periscopes and snort mast of the submarine Artemis (1946) projecting just above the surface of the English Channel off the Isle of Wight in May 1950. She is fitted with one of the original style snort head float valves and and the float is open. The snort mast head is painted in a camouflage pattern. The photograph was taken during a publicity exercise off the Isle of Wight to demonstrate the snort. A copy negative of a photographic print.
