On Upper Thames
A Wyllie woodcut depicting leisure on the upper reaches of the Thames. In the skiff in the foreground the men are rowing and several ladies and children are sitting back and enjoying the scenery. A scow sails past, beyond, and a racing four, steered by cox, can be seen about to overtake both vessels. A pair of swans among the water lilies bottom left, add to the tranquil nature of this river scene. The work is inscribed ‘Proof for Artist’ and is signed 'W L Wyllie’.
