HMS 'Chester'

This is the light cruiser 'Chester' in 1917, seen from the port bow under way, after the fitting of the tripod foremast but before the enlargement of the control top and the removal of the platform low on the tripod just above the bridge. She has range-finder baffles on her foretopmast. The drawing is unfinished, with port anchor and hawse-pipe only lightly sketched in. The ship was laid down for the Greek navy but purchased by completion in 1915 for the wartime fleet.
