'Zaandam'
This dramatic view of a windmill at Zaandam, just north of Amsterdam, may have been made at the end of Wyllie's third cruise on the Dutch waterways in 1888. After his wife, and son, Harold (the crew), had returned to England, Wyllie spent some time alone, and then cruised the Zuyder Zee with his wife's young uncle, Clarence Hearsey. The watercolours that resulted from the cruise were exhibited the same year at Robert Dunthorne's Rembrandt Gallery in an exhibition entitled 'Netherland Waterways'.
