A Chinese bridal planaquin

A black and white oval photograph showing a side-on view of a Chinese bridal palanquin. It features a finial ontop a domed roof, with tassels draping from the eaves on all four sides. Its front faces the right side of the image, and various embroidery is visible on its side panels. Four carriers are visible, standing at its front and back shafts respectively, all dressed in loose-fitting Chinese clothing. An attendant, wearing a Chinese robe and an official hat, stands to the left of the palanquin, while the face-covered bride, dressed in a traditional bridal gown and headpiece, stands to its right. The scence takes place against a plain background and on some form of sheet or carpet, suggesting it is a commercial studio photograph. Original caption (handwritten beaneath): 'Bridal Chair'.
