Admiral Nelson recreating with his Brave Tars after the Glorious Battle of the Nile (caricature)
Hand-coloured print. The British Admiral is celebrating the great victory with his men on board his flagship, the 'Vanguard'. Nelson himself was wounded during the action by a piece of flying metal that laid open his forehead, and a bandage is visible just below his hat. While this is an imaginary scene, Nelson's care for and consideration of his men was typical, and marked him as a great and loved leader among those who served under him. The print also includes the words of a song written in celebration.[Amended PvdM 9/13]
