An English Set-To or British Tars clearing the Deck of the Temeraire of French and Spaniards (caricature)
Hand-coloured.; Text in English below image. The artist is Charles Williams (1775-1839), whose early work in particular is signed with the pseudonyms 'Argus' (the better known) or 'Ansell'. His style is similar to that of James Gillray (who died in 1815) and can fairly easily be mistaken for it, though Gillray's satirical wit and draughtsmanship have a sharper edge.
