The Capture of the Spanish Slave Brig Midas by H.M. Schooner Monkey on the Great Bahama Bank June 27th 1829

The Spanish slave ship Midas is the two-masted, square-rigged brig at the centre of the picture, in port broadside view, shrouded in cannon smoke from the smaller schooner, Monkey, to her stern. The sea is very calm. Another two masted vessel is visible in the far distance.

Midas was captured by Monkey and taken to Havana, where the captive Africans were landed.
